This summer, during July and August, 11 Libraries from the Main Library Alliance of NJ participated in a summer art-making workshop series to learn how to make stop-motion animations. Memory Vessel Studio designed the workshop series to pair with the Public Library’s 2026 Summer Reading program. This year’s theme was “Unearth the Story”.

Students in grades 3-5th and grades 6-8th signed up to learn how under the direction of Tracy Fox, founder of Memory Vessel Studio. She shared demonstrations, inspiration, and pre-made art elements that let her students find their art flow right away! As the tagline of her elevator pitch says -she inspires them to be creators, not just consumers of digital media.  

In just 1 ½ hours, the students learned the basic steps they needed to know to plan their animation. They learned how math is important in the process of making their movies. Then they were ready to create silent movies limited only by their imagination
