Tracy Tracy Bunnell Fox is a collector, observer, and memory keeper. As a fine artist, her work is inspired by nostalgia, observing nature, her love of texture, and her interest in the play of light & shadow. She has used her camera as an art-making tool since she was very young, to observe the world around her and collect memories. When looking for inspiration she inventories her personal taxonomy of organic shapes and small moments to find subjects for her paintings, drawings and digital illustrations. She is often drawn first to the negative space in the subject matter that she chooses. She celebrates small moments, encapsulated memories and looks to find calm in the chaos of life.

As an undergrad in the she earned a BFA in Photography from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She expanded her traditional photography work into digital investigations receiving an MFA in Digital Imaging from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.  As part of her MFA thesis, she defined the phrase “Memory Vessel” in her art-making vocabulary to mean: an object that contains a story, history or past. She uses her archived photographs as building blocks, and sometimes layers disparate memory moments into emotive visual stories.
