MEMORY VESSEL STUDIO • Tracy Bunnell Fox
Tracy is a collector, observer and memory keeper. Her work celebrates finding calm in the chaos of life. Her camera is a pivotal artmaking tool and her photos hold onto small moments creating a daily practice of observation. She explores her personal taxonomy of organic shapes, light, color and texture observations for her compositions and often selects imagery based on the negative space. Please enjoy exploring a selection of my artwork and pattern design portfolio. To keep touch and learn about upcoming exhibits and new collections please join my newsletter. PATTERN & SURFACE DESIGN
Tracy earned a BFA in Photography from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She expanded her traditional photography work into digital investigations receiving an MFA in Digital Imaging from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. As part of her MFA thesis, she defined the phrase “Memory Vessel” in her art-making vocabulary to mean: an object that contains a story, history or past. She uses her archived photographs as building blocks, and sometimes layers disparate memory moments into emotive visual stories. You can see current and archived work on her Instagram account - @memoryvessel
Outside of her studio, Tracy has taken on a variety of creative positions and roles over the yars: She has created online training for corporations and healthcare organizations, she has taught college students in both photography and design as an adjunct professor in MD and NJ. She volunteered as a liaison for her school districts cultural arts programing for over 7 years. She has served as co-president of a local artist membership organization for 2 years and she is currently inspiring 3rd-12th graders to tell stories with stop-motion animation in workshops and art residency programs.
